City Hengelo is easy to reach by car and train. Ideal for a weekend away in the heart of Twente. Certainly if you really fancy a shop till you drop. In Hengelo itself there are surprisingly attractive and original shops, which are included in the special shopping walk route (highly recommended!). But there’s also perfect shopping in various cities just over the German border. You can cycle to your heart’s content in the Twente countryside. Pump up the tyres to cycle over undulating roads, through ancient forests, along meadows, fens and streams.
For the weekend we stayed at City hotel Hengelo. It's a nice hotel and friendly staff. Our bedrooms where pretty standard. The beds are nice and the badroom was clean (you also can choose your pillow). We had a great time. There are a lot activities that you can do. If we will return, we will book again at this hotel.
one night stay
Vrey nice big family room, good beds and variety of pillows, in the city center and very close to the parking. Good covid-19 meassures, like breakfast. Maybe only some new pictures on the walls of the room :-)
good value for money
Very centrally located „no thrills“ hotel. Spacious room neatly decorated including state of the art fittings (coffeemaker, TV-set). Snacks machines on the floor and street level. Nice staff at reception speaking various languages. Breakfast wasn’t included in my 92 Euro rate but seemed a busy an cosy place to eat. What else can you expect from a „city hotel“ in a small town? I‘ll be back!
